This is the reason

...that I would clash so hard with traditional Hip Hop heads. I can appreciate an artist who doesn't take himself too seriously. OFWGKTA embodies that and yet produces quality beats and is well on their way, lyrically. So when I see Tyler, the Creator wile out at a Gucci Mane concert AND get manhandled by a security guard on stage, I laugh and give him mad props because at the end of the day, you gotta laugh. I mean, I laugh at myself all the time. Maybe that's a problem but so what? Brrr. Blocka blocka blocka.

Rest in Power: Christopher George Latore Wallace

Today marks 15 years since the passing of one of the greatest to bless the mic. Do it right and blast some classic Hip Hop wherever you are. And check out how real his daughter is. I can only imagine how proud he would be of her.

UPDATE: Complex put together a great write up on what really went down with the whole Biggie murder. Sad, sad, sad.

Wanna see something trippy? Do ya?

Wildabeast, an MC from Harlem, is everything but the normal. He puts together quickstrike mixtapes that are doper than you'd think, considering the time it takes to complete them (8 hours for his latest project).

bEast coast > the rest

This is what I like to see

Jay-Z performing one of my favorite tracks of his. With a live orchestra. With the proceeds going to charity (Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund and United Way). In a fly ass suit.

INTRODUCING: T'yanna Wallace

With her first radio appearance, the daughter of the late, great Notorious B.I.G., discusses her favorite Biggie track, the job sitch, and her dating life. Good great to see the children of such talent grow up to be so down to earth. Best of luck with that fashion line.

Hit the jump for my favorite Biggie Smalls track. Oooh, the suspense...

LOL Chingy made a mixtape

This is official. And Howard Bailey, Jr. wants you to take him seriously. Because I won't. Thankfully we have rappers like Domo Genesis, from OFWGKTA, who don't take themselves too seriously and for that, I respect him (especially since he samples Duck Sauce's Big Bad Wolf). Also, his mixtape, Under the Influence is really dope.

DON'T SLEEP: Ground Up

While this might not be the group's best mixtape out, it's probably one of the most slept on. Meeting at Temple University in Philadelphia, Ground Up has consistently been putting out dope a$$ mixtapes. And guess what? They're releasing another one today at 3pm EST. I advise you to head to datpiff to cop it then. It's better than whatever you're listening to right now on the radio.

What I will almost solely be doing this Wednesday night

...besides talking to my girlfriend intermittently (most likely AIM if anything)-sorry babe. Lord knows my old macbook can't handle skype and a live video stream of a radio show. If you haven't heard of the Halftime Show, here's just a little blurb from their myspace page:

Tune in weekly for the best variety of hip hop music as DJ Eclipse (Non Phixion/RSC/Fat Beats) & DJ Skizz (80s Kidz/Bodega Soundz) cut up the newest in independent and major label releases. Throw in an occasional old school show, and an anniversary show in March, which boasts a dozen or so M.C.'s rhyming over live beats from hip hop's best producers, and you got the best show in NYC. Plus guest artists & DJ's every week, give-a-ways, and live phone calls from our listeners. Past guests have included Nas, Slick Rick, Gang Starr, Cormega, Eminem, Xzibit, Dilated Peoples, J5, Junior Mafia, Arsonists, El-P, Cage, Ghostface, Rza, Method Man, Redman, X-Ecutioners & The Allies, just to name a few.

And by the way, Fat Beats has been a staple for DJ's, MC's, producers, and Hip Hop heads from way back when. Get familiar

So tune in at 10:30pm EST via iTunes or uStream for a super dope anniversary celebration that will for sure entail crazy stories and even crazier freestyles. Also, just look at one of the columns of guest appearances if you need any more reasons to listen.

UPDATE: Soundcloud hates me

I've posted a few too many tracks that I "don't own the exclusive rights to," so like any other internet savvy user, I'm switching platforms to 8tracks. Due to the way they set up their mixes I have to have at least 8 tracks to publish a mix, so I'll be making one each month with singles from artists I follow closely. Obviously at the beginning of the each month, there will be a shortage of singles so I'll include some singles from the previous month or just timeless tracks that are playing in the back of my head while I walk to/from work.

Here's this month's mix:

(~)March '12 bangers from yellojello3 on 8tracks.

And go straight to the source for everything.
